Let's start with Project Canceled, I'm currently attempting to watch "The River" but MAN is this show terrible! Not through a lack of effort, this show really does put forth a genuine effort to try and be good but at every turn it failed to grasp me. Quite frankly, I'm surprised it made it to 8 episodes...Yeesh! If I can somehow manage to make it through all 8 episodes I'll be giving my thoughts on it here. After "The River" I'm not sure what's next for Project Canceled, maybe those few shows will be the 1st 3 for now because time is a precious commodity.
That's the best description of this series thus far. |
That aside I'm currently watching "Dragonball Super" and I love it! Ya know, "Dragonball" is a lot like an old pair of slippers, you haven't worn them in awhile but once you put them on, you remember why you did and they feel good. "Dragonball Super" is the ACTUAL sequel to "Dragonball Z" (which in and of it's self is a sequel to "Dragonball"). "Super" is a slice of life in the "Dragonball" Universe that quickly catches you up on the characters and also establishes new threats. I have to say, like in previous years I've been keeping abreast of the series I'm aware of all the threats ahead and I have to say, I like that "Dragonball Super" doesn't have a complete and clear cut villain for each saga (aside from Goku Black). The current saga doesn't even set Jiren or Hit up as villains, as they're merely people in a tournament that suddenly became extremely deadly (what with Zen-Oh threatening to destroy the losing universe) the Tournament Of Power Arc pretty much sets Goku up as the villain and that's an interesting idea if you think about it. But I digress.
Good to see you again, old buddy! |
Moving right along, I don't generally talk a lot about professional wrestling but I feel like in this case I need to. If you're not watching wrestling, that's fine, if you are then you'll follow along nicely. The WWE currently features a character named Bray Wyatt. Bray Wyatt has been an interesting experiment in The WWE, coming off the heels of progenitor Waylon Mercy (ala white beater and Hawaiian shirt). The WWE has pretty much given The Eater Of Pins...I mean Worlds free reign (no pun intended) to show up on the titan-tron and deliver soft-spoken yet creepy mad-libs the likes of which The Ultimate Warrior would even have a hard time making sense of, but lately (not really, I'd say for awhile) Bray Wyatt has been going down the tubes.
Bray Wyatt hasn't come out on the winning end of a feud since his debut and since being fed to John Cena, they broke up The Wyatt Family (BIG MISTAKE!!), they made him WWE Champion (he doesn't need a title) and he lost to everyone he got into a feud with. He shows up on the titan-tron, cuts promos about how scary and powerful he is...and then he loses in considerable fashion. Aside from making Bray Wyatt a cult leader without a cult, NOW during his current feud with Finn Balor, Bray Wyatt has been teasing out the Sister Abigail (The almighty force that gave Wyatt his powers and teachings). UNFORTUNATELY, The WWE is having Bray Wyatt play Sister Abigail. Can I just say that this will be the nail in Bray's coffin if he literally shows up in a dress at TLC. He appeared on the titan-tron, with a veil over his face (to hide the fact that he has a f*ckin' bread) and what appeared to be runny eye make up speaking to Finn Balor while using some sort of vocal effect and instead of being scary or terrifying or making Bray seem unhinged, instead of being menacing in ANY way came off as incredibly sad...
This is not a good idea, not for The WWE or for Bray Wyatt. Since his debut Wyatt has been entertaining but as it stands the using of Bray Wyatt has been mishandled completely. Bray should've been a manager who wrestled as a last resort with Harper and Rowan as his heavies/ Wyatt is an excellent promo maker but putting him in drag and making him play his own sister is a stretch, even for him. But I digress, this could either turn out okay or so bad it's good but at no point do I see this being a good idea or going well. We'll see what happens at TLC.
Moving on, the more and more stuff I see going on in Hollywood the less and less I feel like becoming a writer and director. Don't get me wrong, I'll never stop writing and I'll never stop wanting to direct shorts or make videos but doing it on a professional level for studio execs...eh. Especially studio execs who basically control everything. Not only that but more and more actors are shooting their mouths off about Black Lives Matter (looking at you Quentin Tarantino...I freakin' defended you, man) and of course the hatred dujour Donald Trump, now with Eminem joining the ranks and drawing a line between Trump Supporters and his own fans...he didn't even do that with Bush...the point is I just want to make movies and tell stories, but certain communities are so infested in Hollywood it's hard to escape. Who knows? If/when I get there we'll see but for now I'm getting a little tired of all this rhetoric taking over entertainment.

Now if I may do just a quick movie review of a film that came and went so quickly no one can rightfully say if it even existed at all. What film am I talking about? I'm talking about the 2005 film "Dark Water". "Dark Water" came out during the time of "The Ring" when J & K-Horror was all the rage. The sad part is "Dark Water" was written by Hideo Nakata and GOOD GRAVY was this terrible. Basically, the film is about the ghost of a little girl that haunts an apartment complex, how the little girl became a ghost is that her parents (incredibly negligent parents) believed the she was with the other parent when in reality she was left at the apartment. This dumb little girl went upstairs to the roof of the apartment and fell in the water tower. And that's what happened...
I'm glad that the trend of K/J-Horror has fizzled out (what's replaced it isn't much better) but sweet Christmas was this bad, bad on a different level of bad. Some films are bad because they're written poorly, others are bad because they're acted poorly or bad production quality, this was just completely uninspired and poorly written. The actors involved (Jennifer Connelly and John C. Reilly, Tim Roth, and Pete Postlethwaite) give good performances but MAN was this a poor and boring film of a story that wasn't even good to begin with. I'm a fan of slow burn horror but this was no sizzle and no steak, at no point did I feel scared or anything beside bored. Moving right along...
Let's talk about video games, I'm strongly considering buying a PS4, not just to stay update on the latest consoles, screw that, but because there are some pretty awesome games coming out for it. What games you ask? "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" a.k.a The ONLY Resident Evil game that looks good in my opinion, "Detroit: Become Human" LOOKED good (looked being the operative word) until Jesse Williams (the absolute moron that he is) was put in the cast and that surely put a damper on my enthusiasm for that game, "Dragonball Xenoverse 2", "The Last Of Us Part II", "Injustice", "Mortal Kombat X" and whatever follows afterwards. I don't know guys, maybe I'm just having buyer's remorse because The PS4 WWE games have a much better creation suite than the PS3 version...which is stupid as hell to me...but I digress. We'll see what happens and if I cave into buying a PS4.
GET OUT OF THINGS I LIKE, JESSE!! |
Anyway, I haven't been writing much lately and I plan on remedying that in the future. So I've decided to turn the remaining seasons of The Strangeverse into a webcomic. How and when that materializes is entirely up in the air as I'm an adult now with a 5 month old and time is sparse to say the least. I'm juggling quite a bit and I need got Blue Mist to work on and everything else...yeesh so much is in the air. I'll be trying to get some creative stuff done but we'll see how that goes. Anyways; I'm stupid hungry. Here's to looking at the next season of "Stranger Things", until next time ya'll...
