So let's laugh and cry for a bit. Laugh because what we're about to discuss is hilarious and cry because it's true. Yahoo News posted a story on my newsfeed that stated that someone at Marvel was recently promoted (article here). The reason behind the promotion wasn't revealed but the person in question was quoted as making an interesting...scratch that stupid statement. The statement in question? This person is quoted as suggesting dropping "Men" from the title of "X-Men" because it's outdated...Yeah. I'll explain (as if I need to) why this is stupid. So in the words of Trick Daddy, LET'S GO!

What's Up With Gail Simone ?

Comic Books have been dying a slow death for a LONG time now, ever since The New 52 and the insanity of turning Beast Boy red (they've turned him Green again but still...). But now Comic Books are just becoming another platform infested with the eyeball rolling worldview of Modern Day Feminism. If it's not She-Thor (whom I've dubbed Thorina) punching Absorbing-Man in the face (not for robbery but for using "Feminism as a four letter word", actual quote), to Odin's Father offering "Red Pill MRA Menninist casual racism Unsolicited opinions on Israel" (again direct quote) and Wonder Woman at long last FINALLY coming out as bisexual after YEARS of speculation, we finally get these gems from Gail Simone once again showcasing what's wrong with comic books these days and entertainment as a whole.

Comics & Feminism Pt. 2: Thor WITH BOOBS!!

Switching gears, let's talk about Marvel Comics and it's latest indiscretion. I've been rather lenient with Marvel, mostly because I'm a DC guy (not so much these days, until they turn Beast Boy green again, and while I understand that the "Mortal Kombat X" comic books are under the DC imprint, I am reading those for "Mortal Kombat" and not DC) and I'm a lot harder on what I love than what I also love (in this case, Marvel is like my step-son, sure, I care about him but he's not really mine). That being said, Marvel has wowed us with it's Cinematic Universe but on the page, Marvel's got some problems. One of those problems came in the form of a Norse Goddess with Boobs. Let's get to it;

Comics & Feminism Pt.1: Killing The Joke

Let's talk about things Strangeverse. It's been awhile since I've talked about DC & Marvel comics and usually when I bring up my old pals at DC Comics, I have nothing positive to say...I regret that this time won't be any different, but lucky for DC it won't be getting spanked alone, as Marvel will be joining them. Now I'm a DC person which is why I mention DC more often and am a lot harder on them than I am on Marvel. I haven't forgiven DC for making Beastboy red, turning Starfire into a callous whore, turning Wally West & Huntress Black (because diversity) and basically giving it to the DC Universe full on in the ass with no lube. But now Marvel is doing so and while their offense is minor, it's nonetheless glaring. While better people than I have spoken to these issues, I figured I'd best chime in with my 2 cents with 2 articles. So let's get to it;

The Best Of The Worst: Zapped

 

Every now and then in the history of the world, something comes along that's just so unspeakably horrible and repugnant that mere words cannot express the sheer volume of it's horror. I can list off several things Justin Bieber, Michael Bay's constant desire to remake 90s cartoons into live-action blockbuster movies, The "Twilight" Saga, "Persons Unknown", The Final Season of "Dexter", I could go on, but while those things are arguably opinion based and are open to debate, this, however, IS NOT! This caused me to resurrect "The Best Of The Worst" in article form early because this TRULY IS THE VERY BEST OF THE WORST!

Before I go on, let me address the elephant in the room, "Ugo, why are you reviewing a children's movie?". That's a very good and valid question and the answer to that is simple: like my esteemed Rogues Gallery colleague Larry Williams, I too believe that simply because something is designated for children doesn't mean it has to lack cleverness, intelligence and depth (which is why I'm a fan of "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic", but that's another topic) and because of my own damned morbid curiosity (which is what caused me to sit through the entire 2nd season of "American Horror Story"...still attempting to recover my lost brain cells, any and all donations are welcomed, by the way). Hopefully, that addressed those questions. That being said, let's dive into quite possibly the WORST movie you'll ever read about. Strap yourselves in for "Zapped".

The Public Rape Experiment

So recently I've been watching a butt-load of prank videos and things of the like because I really enjoy things like that and among the many pranksters on Youtube is Fouseytube. Aside from doing pranks, he also engages in experimental videos to gauge people's reaction to things such as bullying and so on, much like ABC's much acclaimed "What Would You Do?", also a show a very much enjoy. A few days back, Fousey posted a teaser for something he called "The Public Rape Experiment" which posited the question of if you heard someone getting raped in the bathroom, would you get involved or would you run?

And so we're back to this old topic of Feminism and The MRM. As most of you reading this know I've recently taken the Red Pill and well I'm starting to see a lot of crap going on, especially in my own backyard. This little gem found it's way on Facebook a month ago and I wanted to say something then BUT I didn't feel like getting into a comment war on Facebook...and I've been in quite a few of those. This isn't anything alarming BUT it is an amusing microcosm of a larger issue. So let's dive in;

So if anyone's read my previous post a few weeks back, you'll know that I've become interested in The MRM. Not enough to join it or anything, but enough to open my eyes on a few issues that I haven't been privy too before. Anyway, I was watching a video not too long ago that raised an interesting topic about Gender Discrimination in various fields and I wanted to address that, so here we go;

So Lately...

So lately I've been turned on to the Men's Rights Movement thanks to a blog that I thought I bookmarked but unfortunately didn't...*sad face*. Anyway The Men's Rights Movement is a counter movement to The 2nd Wave Feminist Movement. I'd like to be preamble this by saying that I didn't know much about Feminism, only that whenever it was brought up I ended up feeling like I just got yelled at for having a penis.

I won't deny that women have had it tough and there are many sexist things I can think of that hold women back, BUT I also won't deny that men have been shortchanged a lot as well, especially to the point of emasculation. I don't usually talk about serious topics here and I debated on where exactly I should make this post, either posting this here or on my Christian Blog, and I might just do two posts, one here and one that tackles this issue from a Christian perspective. We'll see. Anyways in my research within The MRM and Feminist Movement I've discovered a few things that I'd like to address so here we go;
