This Week In WTF?!: Kevin Spacey

INTRO EDIT: I had no clue Kevin Spacey was currently under investigation for other allegations aside from Anthony Rapp...geez what's wrong with this man?

I don't want to write this, I don't want to write this because I could be possibly entertaining an alleged child predator and I wanna keep that kind of drama off this blog. For those of you who don't know, Kevin Spacey was outed as sexual harassing Anthony Rapp who was then a minor (14 years old) many years ago. The allegation surfaced and Kevin Spacey outed himself and gay, stated he had no memory of the incident but apologized anyway and then was booted from "House Of Cards" resulting in Robin Wright's non-interesting character Claire taking the helm as lead actress on the show and basically transforming a pretty awesome political drama into an incoherent mess. Well, its not even the New Year and we're closing this year with some WHAT THE F*CKERY from Mr. Spacey himself via a cryptic, slightly insane Youtube video (that no doubt caused both his lawyers and agent to have a brain aneurysm) titled "Let Me Be Frank" (a nod to his character on "House Of Cards") that features Mr. Spacey in the guise of his Frank Underwood character possibly discussing the allegations against him (Kevin Spacey) or possibly hinting at another Season Of "House Of Cards"...here's where it gets messy. Strap on your tinfoil hats ya'll, I'm about to offer several theories of what I think is going on here. Let's dive in.

THE RUSE THEORY
This is the craziest theory I got but hear me out. Kevin Spacey and Anthony Rapp conspired to make up and release those allegations during a time when "House Of Cards" ratings were dropping, the shake-up would naturally cause people to want to tune into the "final" Season thus creating a boost in the ratings (at least for the Season 6 premiere) only to pull the rug out from the fans and announce there's one more Season WITH FRANK. In Season 5, Frank Underwood decided to control the White House from behind the scenes and stated that if Claire didn't pardon him he'd kill her. Season 6 made it clear that Frank was dead and Doug killed him but again "no body, no death". So it's possibly Frank faked his own death to become an unseen force behind The White House.

Basically what I'm saying is Kevin Spacey is playing "House Of Cards" in real life, after all in the show Frank was sending messages to Tom Hammerschmidt hinting at his guilt so that he could step down as President, Kevin Spacey released allegations that allowed him to step down as Frank Underwood (which explains why Anthony Rapp never said anything earlier). Both the story and real life resulted in Robin Wright/Claire Underwood being in a position and power and ultimately failing miserably. He's subtly hinting at a Season 7. This theory is validated by Kevin being Frank Underwood in the video and NOT Kevin Spacey (Kevin Spacey isn't Southern) and he puts on a ring, not his "FU" ring but a ring nonetheless signifying Frank's return and he seems to be talking explicitly/implicitly about the show.

But of course, this theory can't be true because there are already too many rumors about Kevin Spacey's predatory ways. And furthermore, Kevin Spacey already lost a film deal with Netflix for the Gore Vidal movie...so what would he have to gain from all of this being a ruse? A sudden thrust back into the spotlight? Not during the height of the #MeToo Movement? Not in this hyper-sensitive PC culture where everything is either racist, sexist, homophobic and the like? No, this theory is too far-fetched.

THE RALLYING THEORY
The theory here is basically Kevin Spacey dipping his foot back into the water to see how people respond to him. After this whole thing happened with Anthony Rapp and his "apology" he's been radio silent and now he thinks enough time has passed that he can come back. He's reminding us what a good actor he is by portraying a memorable character and using that character a voice for what he's thinking and feeling but saying it the way Frank Underwood would. Bare in mind, Kevin Spacey was never legally convicted of anything (like Bill Cosby) and despite there being rumors and allegations and the like no evidence has emerged other than testimonies from other actors, but nothing actionable on a Roman Polanski scale and thus, yeah in light of all of that Kevin Spacey is entitled to say he's been judged unfairly (at least by the public) because an allegation is simply that an allegation and that shouldn't have destroyed his career, not without some evidence.

The theory is slightly validated because his speech is vague enough to where you could apply it to both the character Frank Underwood & Kevin Spacey, although the ending suggests he's talking explicitly about the show. But out of all the theories, this one is at least the most sane, for anyone reading and for Kevin Spacey as well.  If this is the case, I can't say that I blame him.

KEVIN SPACE JUST LOST HIS DAMN MIND THEORY
Basically, say all it says in the title; Kevin Spacey actually thinks he's Frank Underwood now and can't tell the difference between real life and fiction and this video is an unrepentant way of saying he doesn't care about the allegations. This theory only works if he is indeed guilty and people think he's absolute slime-ball. For the record, I don't think he's exactly a slime-ball on the level of say...Harvey Weinstein just because Harvey got caught, Kevin is still alleged and alleged just means someone said a thing about you with some credibility behind it (because you can say anything about anybody that would be an accusation but an allegation, in my opinion, has to be credible). If he did what he did that was a dumb thing and he shouldn't have done it but if he was really intoxicated at the moment as he claims he was I'd just let it go. I've had friends act completely stupid while intoxicated and all I did was roll my eyes and move away from them.

The allegation goes that Anthony Rapp was invited to Kevin's house for a party (as a 14-year-old) where alcohol was served and then Kevin Spacey tried to initiate sex. My question is wouldn't his parents have heard about what happened, surely this would have made the news much earlier than now. I mean you're at a party and a drunk high profile actor hits on your son. Please believe if my son is at a party (somehow) with Jaden Smith and Will Smith starts hitting on him, he and I are gonna have some words. Not to belittle Anthony Rapp but the man is 47 now and that's a long time to say nothing (substantial anyway) about his interaction with Kevin Spacey. I mean if I were 14 and The Rock grabbed my ass or tried to go for my Dwayne Johnson I'd talk about it with everyone, believe me or not everyone's gonna hear about it. And this isn't to say he was a no one so he wouldn't have been believed, the two were in Broadway show together so at the very least there's enough evidence to put these two in the same location. Maybe they didn't want the Media hassle and that's understandable but if someone attempts to rape my son, bring any kinda cameras you want, the prick is gonna die. So I'm not too sure what to make of this video, either I'm right or I'm wrong or I'm half-right or half-wrong. Either way, let me know what you think and I'll catch you guys later.
