And Now We Have A "Dexter: Resurrection" Trailer

We're back, kiddos...or rather, he's back, that's right, folks, Dexter is back from the dead with a brand new series. Now, say what you will about "Dexter: New Blood," I thought it was pretty good, all things considered, but I have to agree that the ending was pretty rushed...and now we have a course correction with "Dexter: Resurrection" after surviving a potentially fatal gunshot wound inflicted upon him by his very own son for breaking the code and killing an innocent man (Srg Logan). So now we pick up from that scene and find Dexter in the hospital and awakening to a new life...and where else but New York?

Most awkward hug ever...

We find Dexter where else except the city that never sleeps, the Big Apple, New York. Ironically, Harrison is there as well...which leads me to believe that Iron Lake was somewhere in New York *shrugs*. Either way the city is a huge change of pace for Dexter, because while Miami had its hustle and bustle, New York is a very different animal...and speaking of different animals this season (and yes, I'm using the word Season...because why the hell wouldn't I...it's not like anything changed) is going to be completely different from any other in a lot of way. "Dexter", after Season 4 started to become The Guest Star Show, Julia Stiles, Johnny Lee Miller, Peter Weller, Angela Bettis, Edward James Olmos, Colin Hanks, Mos Def, Ray Stevenson, Yvonne Strahovski, Sean Patrick Flanery, and I think that made "Dexter" a little less interesting in my opinion. Rather than plot, it felt like the show was trying to find its next John Lithgow, whose performance as The Trinity Killer really solidified the show's bona fides.

There was a time when Dexter shunned a friend who was dressed like the unibomber...

This season is no different, now boasting Peter Dinklage, Uma Thurman, Krysten Ritter, Neil Patrick Harris, David Dastmalchian, and Eric Stonestreet all as...serial killers? Yes! It looks like Dinklage's character Leon Prater is something of a serial killer enthusiast or collector, and brings together a group of serial killers (for reasons unknown), Krysten Ritter's character is known as Lady Vengeance, Neil Patrick Harris is The Tattoo Killer, Eric Stonestreet is Rapunzel and David Dastmalchian has the awesome name of The Gemini Killer (a name taken from the canceled NBC series "Awake" which will find its way on "Project Canceled" eventually). Is this setting up for some kind of Serial Killer battle royale or just a collection of killers coming to meet a fan? This part of the trailer has me more interested than anything.

So from the trailer, we can see Angel reuniting with Dexter, and he's now aware that Dexter is either The Bay Harbor Butcher...or a murderer...since Angela Bishop now knows that Dexter killed Logan to escape, either way, Dexter is going to be a wanted man. What's also interesting is that Harrison looks like he might be teaming up with Angel. Harrison got a taste of his father's brand of justice and liked it...even committing a crime of his own in slashing a kid with a razor and painting him as a school shooter when the kid was innocent, that was rather twisted. The real question that should be on everyone's lips is: how many lives does Dexter have? Because I can't see this lasting for another season, and I can't see Dexter living beyond this, where everyone knows he's The Bay Harbor Butcher. Unless Batista and Harrison decide to team up with Dexter and become vigilantes, this can't go beyond where it is now. And that's the major disservice that was done to this series, in giving Dexter so many near misses, his finale just wasn't enough to put the character to bed...we'll see if they get it right this go round...until then...I guess tonight's not the night.
