STRANGE LOG: Honeydew Funk

My goodness, gang, would you look at that? Yet ANOTHER Strange Log coming at you after a brief bit of radio silence. So what's been going on here and there in The Strangeverse and what do I have to report? Well, let's dive in and see what's what and what's coming down the pike.

Right outta the gate, NO, I haven't seen "Justice League" yet, hoping to check that out soon, but we'll see. As it stands now I'm prepared to be frustrated or at least underwhelmed. I've heard that it's serviceable and it's a decent enough movie but I stand by my previous article, getting New Gods and Parademons now will only sully getting New Gods and Parademons later, and if they're building to Darkseid, than having Steppenwolf be the herald of that is NOT a good idea at all. But again, all of this remains to be seen.

Moving right along, I'm still adjusting to my new schedule and my new job, I'm loving it still but I'm working nights and I have more time in the morning to (as I have been: watch "Dragonball Super" and other things) hang out with my family, but in doing so, I haven't really been keeping up on my blog and there are a few articles here and there I'd like to write but the time hasn't been right and I haven't been in the right headspace to write them. Being a father is certainly a full time job but it has it's perks. One of the big things is that (as mentioned in other articles) I've recently discovered a love and passion for board games, in addition to not having the people to play with or the right people (and believe you me, I can tell you some horror stories as my wife can attest), it's also finding the time to play them that's the most damning as Draygen (my son) consumes most of our time.

Now on to the good stuff! Ever since "Pretty Little Liars" ended back in Season 6...what 7th Season? What are you talking about, crazy person? I've been out of TV shows that were so bad they were brilliant, well all that has changed as fate brought my wife and I together on the same show. What show? The CW's alternate universe Archie series "Riverdale". Our curiosity was spurned by Hot Topic boasting a poster of the series outside it's window and harboring their merchandise and we both drew the same conclusion, "What's the deal with this?". Were we missing something here? Could a gritty, teen angsty Archie series really be THAT popular to have Hot Topic of all places put their merch on display? Bare in mind I haven't seen "Pretty Little Liars" merch there and while this maybe because (as much as I don't want to admit it) The CW has the superhero TV show market on lock with "The Flash", "Legends Of Tomorrow", "Arrow" and "Supergirl", so it'd make more sense have CW merch, and with "Riverdale" being based on a comic, it makes sense.

That being said, "Riverdale" is RIFFTASTIC! My goodness! My wife and I quip on this show like no tomorrow and it's good for us to watch something together. After all we're done with "Stranger Things" and my wife isn't well versed enough to enjoy Marvel's Netflix offerings as I have or "House Of Cards", so having something we can watch and enjoy together is critical and something I look forward to greatly. I can't entirely discuss "Riverdale" here as it's worthy of it's own, if not numerous articles riffing and reviewing this masterpiece of utter nonsense. I'll be debating on whether or not to review some episodes or a season as a whole, we'll see.

Pimpin' since 1941

Since we're on TV and comic books, I have been watching Netflix's "The Punisher", after Frank Castle's debut in the 2nd Season of "Daredevil", there was no doubt that Frank Castle would find his way to his own series and sure enough he did. That being said this series follows Frank uncovering a military conspiracy which he just so happens to be in the center of, and follows Frank as a soldier than a superhero or vigilante. The only issue I have with The Marvel Universe is that in a universe where Ant-Men, Tony Stark weapons, super soldiers (both Captain America & Nuke) and literal deities, I guess for me it's just getting harder and harder to accept that no one's world seems to be shaken by those revelations. I don't know, I guess I'd just like more references to the various goings on in the Marvel Universe. Thus far, "The Punisher" is a great series.

Speaking of series, a show I haven't talked about or mentioned at all on this blog is "Black Mirror". These days the only anthology running is unfortunately "American Horror Story" (still recovering brain cells from having reviewed it, any and all donations welcomed) but "Black Mirror" cured all of that. It's 4th Season will be coming in 2018 and I couldn't be more excited. I'm hoping to get more episodes like "Shut Up & Dance" and "White Bear" easily the best episodes. So come 2018 I'll have quite a few things to check out. If you haven't watched "Black Mirror", I'll tell you some episodes like "San Junipero" and "The Entire History Of You" are skippable but the series is over all good. It's best to go in as cold as possible so I'll just keep my mouth shut.

As far as The Strangeverse goes, as I've stated before I'm pretty much done with Youtube. I haven't the time nor the patience to return to Youtube as things stand now. However, I am interested in continuing The Strangeverse as a webcomic but again, it's all about finding the time to sit down and draw things out...as there's the sticky situation about my unfortunate artistic ability when it comes to locations, animals and more importantly, WOMEN!! For practice I've been drawing KATIRA pin-ups that I plan to post on Instagram but the incurring criticism would terrify me. The thing is, I just can't seem to make my women appear feminine or attractive. *sigh* Not to mention that a webcomic would be another time consuming enterprise that I haven't the time for, that and it'll draw time away from my actual career enterprise of getting "Blue Mist" off the ground...but likewise my art needs to improve if I'm going to get "Blue Mist" going anywhere...so it'll benefit me.

Anyway, the whole point of this article is just I'm having a hard time finding time to do the things I want to do. In between hanging out with my wife and finding time for myself to just dick around or plan stories that I'll probably never write (ya know, typical writer stuff), it's just that I get off work so late and Draygen typical gets up at least 2 times a night, once around 12am and another at 5am and I feel super guilty that my wife tends to be the one to take care of him and she's barely has time to do anything she wants to do what with taking care of her sister and mother whom we live with. So much stuff going on and yet not enough going on, if you know what I mean. Anyway's here's a funny GIF as usual, because if we can't enjoy Q celebrating then I guess I don't wanna be on this planet anymore.
